Weekly Food Recalls Impacting Georgia

Gardeners Basics of Spanish Fork, Utah, is recalling one-pound bags of broccoli sprouting seeds because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The product was distributed nationwide in the United States through online sales and shipped directly to consumers.

The product was sold online through Amazon, www.gardenersbasics.com, TikTok Shop, Walmart, eBay and Etsy. Sales have stopped. Consumers should identify recalled bags using the product name, package and marking described below.

The recalled product is Gardeners Basics Waltham 29 Broccoli Sprouting Seeds, packaged in a white and green resealable pouch, net weight 1 pound (454 g), with UPC 848137042889. The bag is marked “Packed for 2027.”

On September 26, 2026, Gardeners Basics was notified by our seed supplier that bulk broccoli seed lot #W4105 was recalled because Salmonella was detected in a broccoli seed sample that was collected and analyzed by the FDA. Additionally, the seeds were identified as being used by a sprout grower whose finished product was part of an FDA investigation involving a multistate foodborne illness outbreak.

No illnesses related to this product had been reported to Gardeners Basics as of October 6, 2026. Sales of the affected product have stopped.

Consumers should stop using the recalled seeds and they should not eat the seeds or any sprouts grown from them. Consumers should:

  • Seal the recalled seeds and any sprouts in a bag and discard them. No return is required.
  • Contact Gardeners Basics for recall assistance or a refund if your affected purchase has not already been refunded. If you are unsure whether your bag is affected, stop using it and contact us. Please provide your order number and where you purchased the product.

Eden Brothers LLC is recalling Calabrese Broccoli Seeds in Packet, 1 Ounce and 1 Pound sizes (Eden Brothers lots 1022067 and 1022068; supplier lot W4105) because we were informed by our supplier that they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In rare cases, a Salmonella infection can enter the bloodstream and cause more severe illness.

Eden Brothers was notified by its supplier that the seeds may be contaminated with Salmonella. Eden Brothers stopped sales of the affected lots and is notifying customers directly. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The products were sold through Eden Brothers online sales at EdenBrothers.com and Amazon.com from July 8 through September 28, 2026, depending on product size. Product was shipped to customers nationwide.

Actions You Should Take as a Home Gardener:
Consumers who have the recalled seeds should stop using them. They should not plant, sprout, eat or share them, and should not use them to grow microgreens. Seal the seeds in a bag and throw them away in household trash rather than compost. Wash hands and any surfaces or containers that touched the seeds. Anyone who shared these seeds with others should let them know about the recall.

Eden Brothers is offering a full refund for the recalled seeds. To request a refund, customers should complete the recall reply form, and an Eden Brothers team member will follow up.

Retailers and distributors who resold or further distributed the recalled seeds should stop distribution right away, set aside and destroy remaining inventory, notify their customers, and complete the reply form.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for canned chicken Vienna-style sausages that were illegally imported from Jamaica, a country that is not eligible to export meat or poultry products to the United States. FSIS is continuing to investigate how these products entered the country.

The following products are subject to the public health alert, regardless of the product date [view labels]:

  • 140-g. cans of “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES.” 
  • 140-g. cans of “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES HOT & SPICY.” 

The products bear establishment number “EST. NO G-01” inside the Jamaica mark of inspection. The importer subsequently distributed the product to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and Texas.

The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities of imported products in commerce.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness or injury should contact a health care provider.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ pantries. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

This recall has been expanded: Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., San Carlos, Chile expands its previously initiated recalls on July 3, 2026 and September 3,2026 recall of frozen organic IQF blueberries and berry blends to include additional lots of Great Value frozen Organic Triple Berry Blend 10 OZ, Great Value frozen Organic Blueberries 10 OZ and one Lot of Trader Joe’s frozen Organic Mixed Berry Blend because of potential contamination with Escherichia coli O145:H28 (E. coli O145).

E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) that can cause illness characterized by severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and vomiting. While most healthy individuals recover within a week, some infections may result in a serious complication known as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), particularly in young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The recalled Great Value product was shipped to select Walmart stores in 30 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia, along with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Consumers should check their freezers for the affected product.

The recalled Trader Joe’s product was shipped to select Trader Joe’s stores in 26 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin, along with the District of Columbia.

This market action is taken as a precautionary measure following traceback information linked to frozen blueberries which were the subject of the first recall on July 3, 2026.

EAK Distribution of Casper, WY is recalling HOME GROWN Green Sprouting Calabrese Broccoli Seeds, 8 oz, Heirloom, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

HOME GROWN Green Sprouting Calabrese Broccoli Seeds, 8 oz, Heirloom was sold on Amazon.com to consumers nationwide between the dates of August 20th, 2026 and September 18th, 2026

HOME GROWN Green Sprouting Calabrese Broccoli Seeds, 8 oz, Heirloom is in a cream colored pouch with the UPC code 850056627443. The top seal is embossed with the Production Lot Code of AUG172026.

There have been no reported illnesses from our product to date. The recall was initiated after our seed supplier notified us that the seeds were identified as being used by a sprout grower whose finished product were part of an FDA investigation involving a multistate food borne illness outbreak.

On September 16th EAK Distribution were notified by our seed supplier that there could be an issue with the original broccoli seed lot #W4105 that EAK Distribution had purchased. Our seed supplier has recalled the affected seed bulk lot. On September 17th all sales were halted. EAK Distribution was notified by our supplier on September 28, 2026 that Salmonella was detected in the broccoli seed sample that was collected and analyzed the FDA. We have ceased all production and distribution of the affected product.

Consumers who have purchased HOME GROWN Green Sprouting Calabrese Broccoli Seeds, 8 oz, Heirloom, between the dates of August 20th and September 18th from Amazon are urged to not use the recalled broccoli seeds and dispose of the product.

Consumers should also contact Amazon for a full refund. Consumers with any questions may contact EAK Distribution at 541-306-4278, Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm PST.
