Harry was Methodist by faith and a quiet, shy man who preferred to stay out of the spotlight. He had a special knack for getting under his twin brother Larry’s skin, a talent he seemed to take particular pride in. He loved his family and was always protective of those closest to him. Harry enjoyed helping Larry with yardwork, although he was often more interested in supervising than doing the actual work. He looked forward to dog-sitting Sadie, Curtis’ dog, and was always happy to have her around.
Survivors include his twin brother, Larry Bates; his sister, Carla Robinson Smith (Russell); his nephew, Curtis Robinson; his good friend & neighbor, Bea Bush; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his niece, Krista Robinson, and his brother-in-law, Rodger Robinson.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
