Jamie was a South Georgia girl through and through. A Christian by faith, she believed in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. She had a compassionate heart and did what she could for the people around her. Jamie also had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing a smile to just about anyone she met.

Jamie was a strong, brave woman who faced life’s challenges with a positive attitude. Her fight with cancer was evidence of her determined spirit, even when the road was hard. Jamie’s children were her world. They were at the center of her life and the reason behind so much of what she did.

She worked hard and gave 100 percent to whatever was in front of her. She was a good cook, and she enjoyed keeping her hands busy with crafts, painting, and coloring. Jamie put the same effort into the little things as she did the big ones. Her humor, generous heart, and willingness to help others made a difference in the lives of the people around her.

Survivors include her children, Sebastian Vela, Annette Lee Vela, and Kaylee Myrick; her siblings, Vickie Myrick, Brian Myrick, and Roy Myrick, Jr.; and a host of extended family. Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee Myrick, Sr. and Bobbie Jean Owens, and her godparents, Johnnie Stevens and Jimmy T. Stevens.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
