Change

“For I am the LORD, I change not” (Mal. 3: 6 KJV).

God doesn’t change because He is the only perfect personality. God’s personality is eternally complete. If God was changing or developing, He would be lacking something and could not be God.

Man is a developing personality; his character is always fluid. The only thing constant in the Christian’s life is change. Change is constant if the Christian is persistent in following God and growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

People need help, want help, and ask for help but will not receive help because they refuse to change. Help comes in the form of change. Help and change are synonymous. No one is hopeless or helpless if they’re willing to change.

Change comes in the form of repentance or a change of mind that results in a changed life. Change comes through the choices we make. We make bad choices we change for the worse. We make good choices we change for the better. We make our choices, and our choices make us.

The Christian changes into the likeness of Christ from “glory to glory” through constant obedience to God’s word and through the grace of God. No Christian is holy by accident or against their will. They’re holy because they chose to obey and follow Jesus Christ.

The word change comes from a Latin word cambiare, to exchange. For the Christian to be changed into the likeness of Christ they must go to the Cross where unrighteousness is exchanged for righteousness, where war is exchanged for peace, where disobedience is exchanged for obedience, where rebellion is exchanged for surrender, where pride is exchanged for humility, where fear is exchanged for courage, where doubt is exchanged for faith, where hate is exchanged for love, where weakness is exchanged for strength, and sorrow is exchanged for joy. The cross and the blood of Jesus change everything when it’s applied.

We go through stages of change naturally as we grow physically. We go through stages of change deliberately as we grow spiritually. We grow and change physically as we feed upon natural food. We grow and change spiritually as we feed on the word of God.

Are you being changed?

God shed His grace on thee.

And crowned thy good with brotherhood,

From sea to shining sea.”

He’s blessed you in the field and town.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

The Truth God gave to thee.

And it has been your heritage.

From sea to shining sea.

God’s help was shown to thee.

And He has been your strength and shield.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

God’s love has come to thee.

And you have known His grace and patience.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

Though you’ve rejected now His word.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

There are idols in thee.

Your heart’s given to covetousness.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

There’s hate and strife in thee.

And brother fights against brother.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

There is violence in thee.

The blood of innocents you have shed.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

God’s wrath will come to thee.

For all your sin and wickedness.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

May repentance come to thee.

And wash you clean in Jesus’ blood.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

May God’s presence be with thee.

May you seek His face continually.

From sea to shining sea.

America, America

May God once more bless thee.

And crown thy good with brotherhood.

From sea to shining sea.
