Glover McCall Burney III was born September 30, 1950, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Glover McCall Burney, Jr. and Grace Hines Brown Burney.  He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1968. He retired from the State Hospital in Thomasville but known to the locals for his work at Burney’s Automotive. He was Baptist by faith.

Rusty loved everything about an automobile. His passion for fast cars and hot rods probably began riding in Presh Brown’s Thunderbird. If the truth is known, he probably “aired it out” a time or two just to make sure it was running right. Friends and family joked about him being “the cleanest mechanic” and never having dirt or grease on his clothes. His friends were friends for life and knew they could count on him to be there for them. He enjoyed air boating, hunting, and fishing in his spare time. As a creature of habit, there were two things you could count on: where he ate lunch every day (Betty’s) and what channel the remote was locked in to (wherever Judge Judy episodes were playing).

Survivors include his son, McCall Burney IV and his wife, Terrie; his grandchildren, Maggie & William; his siblings, Troup Hines Burney (Terrie), Thomas Brown Burney, and William Taylor Burney; his aunt, Betty Nanninga of Savannah; and his nephew, Alex. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
