On February 16, 2021, at approximately 2317 hours, Deputy Vontrail Smith, Deputy Dustin Strickland, and Sgt. Edwin Harvey, responded to 194 Gaines Bouie Road, in reference to a Suspicious Person. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith, Sgt. Harvey, and Deputy Strickland spoke with the caller, Jewel Herring who stated that there was a suspicious navy-blue Hyundai sitting in her yard and wanted Deputies to search her property which was located at 154 Gaines Bouie Rd. As Deputies searched the nearby property, they noticed that the back of Jewel’s residence was on fire.

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, in the evening hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Vincent Edmond was on duty and located at supervisor approved road check being conducted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol. James Leeroy Smith was transported to the Decatur County Jail and charged with DUI and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, at approximately 1900 hours, Deputy William McClanahan stopped a 2005 Pontiac G6 while preforming a road block. Upon approaching the vehicle Dep. McClanahan met with the driver Earnest Williams, who was operating the vehicle. Williams stated that he did not have a license and that it had been revoked for child support. Dep. McClanahan obtained Williams information and had 911 run it through NCIC, which confirmed that Williams license was revoked indefinitely. Dep. McClanahan notified Williams of his findings and asked Williams to step out of the vehicle. Once Williams exited the vehicle Dep. McClanahan notified Williams that he was under arrest. Deputy Jordan Phillips then transported Williams to the county jail.

On Sunday, February 21, 2021, at 1357 hours, Deputy Chris Jackson, responded 2255 Dothan Road, in Bainbridge, Georgia, in reference to text messages about an attempted car theft. It also should be known that Joey and Sheila, have been constantly harassing each other, by calling and texting or being found on property where either party has been trespassed. Jackson will also seek, misuse of 911 warrants due to the excessive amount of Calls by either party.
