4-H Project Achievement Contest Winners

During this time of extended health safety precautions, Georgia 4-H provided a first ever statewide virtual Cloverleaf Project Achievement competition for 4th-6th grade 4-H’ers. The 4-H Project Achievement competition helps youth develop leadership, creativity, public speaking skills and a deep understanding of their desired project area. Eighteen Georgia counties and 150 students participated in this virtual competition including seven Decatur County QUEST students.

Youth select from 62 project focus categories and prepare presentations on the area levels. When competing on the area level, participants prepare and are judged on a four- to six-minute presentation about their selected subject. For the online contest, youth uploaded a video of their presentation and their work was evaluated virtually by UGA Extension staff and volunteer judges.

Decatur County 4-H’ers placed very well in this competition. First place awards went to Gunnar Mcnair, Outdoor Survival project; Morris Smith, General Science project; Brynlee Martin, Marine & Coastal Ecology; Alden Hill, International project; and Ella Hale, Entomology project. Second place honors were awarded to Trinity Lusk, Dog Care & Training project. Eason Roberts placed third in the Workforce Preparation & Career Development project.

Participating youth were celebrated through a statewide video posted to social media outlets and viewable at https://youtu.be/Gnq79GCKgqc.
