GSP Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Cairo Couple for Methamphetamine Possession

On Tuesday, November 17th just after 11pm, Bainbridge Public Safety Sergeant Jessica Matthews was contacted by Georgia State Patrol Trooper Steven Kornegay in reference to a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Scott and Green Streets.

A male, identified as Zachary Griner, and a female, identified as Courtney Carter, were found by Trooper Kornegay to be in possession of three small plastic baggies containing crystal methamphetamine, a small plastic baggie containing marijuana, a digital scale, and a glass pipe commonly used for the consumption of narcotics.  Sergeant Matthews received custody of Griner and Carter, as well as the drugs and drug paraphernalia.  Griner and Carter were arrested and transported to the Decatur County Jail.



Zachary Griner, age 27, of a Cairo address was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (FELONY).



Courtney Carter, age 31, of a Cairo address was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (FELONY) and Possession of Marijuana.
