Florence Arrested in Shooting Incident

On Sunday, November 1st around 6pm, Bainbridge Public Safety Shift 4 officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Broughton Street in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and found an adult male who had received a gunshot wound.  The victim, who works as a security guard at a local restaurant/bar, told officers he recognized the shooter as Ira Lee Florence III AKA “Junior” from an incident that had occurred the night before at his place of employment.

Witnesses to the shooting stated that the victim had been walking down Broughton Street when a vehicle pulled up next to him.  The driver, Florence, got out of his vehicle and a fight ensued.  Moments later, Florence pulled a gun and fired a shot at the victim, hitting him in the pelvic area.  
 
Florence returned to his vehicle and drove away from the scene.  The victim was treated by South Georgia EMS and transported to the hospital by ambulance.
 
Bainbridge Public Safety Investigators were notified of the incident and began looking for Florence.  On Friday, November 13th, Ira Lee Florence, 30, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault (FELONY) and Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Crime (FELONY).
