BPS receives two compressed air packs

Bainbridge Public Safety wants to thank Johnny Wacaser, Plant Manager of Blueknight Energy Partners in Bainbridge, for their donation of two compressed air packs.

These self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA) will be used as protective equipment for use with chlorine gas.  Bo Ladner, City of Bainbridge Assistant Public Works Director, stated that the packs will be stored in the city water well house, and will be extremely useful if an emergency escape situation were to arise.  Chlorine gas is used at the City of Bainbridge Wastewater Treatment Plant, and exposure can be very irritating to the eyes, nose, throat, and mucous membranes.

Wacaser told Fire Chief Doyle Welch, “Blueknight is glad to be able to supply the packs to the City of Bainbridge.  Even though they are good packs, we certainly hope they are never needed.”
