Paul Dewayne Hicks was born March 18, 1979, in Waukegan, IL, the son of Paul & Jo Powell Hicks. He attended Bainbridge High School and earned an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Darton College. Throughout his career, Paul worked at several hospitals with his most recent stint at Memorial Hospital & Manor. He attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Paul was very ambitious and desired great things. His nature was to always learn more, do more, and be better today than yesterday in every endeavor from his hobbies to his calling as a respiratory therapist. He was very health conscious; this carried over to the deep concern Paul had for his patients and his hope for their complete healing. As a writer, Paul captured his zest for life in a manner that made the twists and turns seem like the greatest adventure through the most unexpected places.

Survivors include his wife, Noelia Rivera-Hicks; his children, Lucian Hicks of Port St. Lucie, Brayden Hicks, Kaleb Hicks, & Alexis Hicks, all of Baconton, GA; his step-children, Isaiah Rivera and Esme Rivera; his parents, Jo & Paul Hicks of Brinson; his siblings, Christopher Hicks and his wife, April, of Bainbridge, and Jessica Hicks of Brinson; his grandmother, Anne Powell; and a large extended family. Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Curtis Powell and Gibson & Bessie Hicks.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
