Lougene Shelton Tidwell, 82, of Roswell, GA, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Ford officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Keith Griffin, Craig Griffin, Charles Wayne Griffin, Jordan Griffin, Hank Metcalf, Stuart Griffin and Bill Patterson serving as active pallbearers.

Helen Lougene Shelton was born August 31, 1936 in Baker County, GA, the daughter of Harry and Hazel Griffin Shelton. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1954. She moved to the Atlanta area in 1955 and enjoyed a career of over 30 years with Delta Airlines where she served in reservations and the flight operations department. Lougene was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She was a devoted wife to her husband of 31 years, Richard E. Tidwell. Lougene liked to describe herself as a “farm girl” living in the big city. She loved animals, nature as well as vintage and fast cars. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Destin, FL.
Survivors include her children, Susan R. Neto of Roswell, GA and Ron C. Tidwell and his wife, Cindy, of Lake Wylie, SC; her step-children, Rick Tidwell and his wife, Desiree and Eileen Howell and her husband, Jim; her sister, Rose Marie Freidlander of Wellington, FL; her grandchildren, Robert Tidwell, Richard Shelor, Kyle Tidwell, Kelly Tidwell, Jeremy Whitaker, Brandon Whitaker, Rickey Tidwell and Ryan Tidwell; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Tidwell, Evelyn Tidwell, Robert Rhys Tidwell, Emelia Tidwell, Sadie Lougene Shelor, Shepard Shelor, Max Whitaker, Will Whitaker, Cate Whitaker, Marlee Tidwell and Wynne Tidwell. In addition to her parents, Lougene was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Richard E. Tidwell; and her brothers, Terry M. Shelton and B. Scott Shelton.
