Envision Credit Union increases commitment to education

ECU Expands Swipe for Schools Program to South Georgia

Envision Credit Union (Envision) recently announced they will increase their commitment to affiliated Backpack Programs by expanding across state lines. The Swipe for Schools year-long initiative is member-driven and contributes five cents to Backpack Programs with each “swipe” of an Envision VISA® debit card. These programs ensure that at-risk students return to school ready to learn each week by providing a bag full of food meant to cover all nutritional needs over the weekend. To kick off the 2019 initiative in Georgia, representatives from Envision presented a check to the Decatur County Backpack Program, and another check on November 9th to the Thomas County Backpack Buddies Foundation, Inc.

“Envision’s core values are built upon supporting the education community – proudly serving teachers, support staff, parents and students,” said Darryl G. Worrell, President and CEO of Envision. “It is important to us to support programs that directly impact the lives of young people. We want to see all students succeed, therefore it is imperative that they are properly nourished. Our company is grateful for the work the Backpack Programs do for students and we are proud to support their efforts through Swipe for Schools.”
The existing Backpack Programs currently provide more than 600 bags of food to children each week in South Georgia. With each “swipe” of an Envison VISA® debit card, Envision will be able to increase the number of bags provided to children. Ensuring that students return to school fully fed benefits not only their overall health, but also academic performance and attendance. Since these programs do not receive any federal funding, support from organizations such as Envision Credit Union play a crucial role in their continued success.

Envision’s sustained commitment to Swipe for Schools is just one example of the credit union’s constant support for education. The credit union was founded by teachers in 1954 with a mission to support local educators. Envision has preserved those ideals through ongoing efforts that impact teachers, schools and students throughout its North Florida and South Georgia region. Their annual philanthropic investments contribute to local education through a variety of scholarship programs, grants, sponsorships, discounts and volunteer hours.
