Mr. John Daniel (J.D.) Harrell, age 92, passed away early on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in Bainbridge, Georgia. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, at New Fountainhead Baptist Church. Interment will follow in New Fountainhead Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday evening. The family is gathering at the home of Randy and Janice Martin, 1819 Mildred Street.
John Daniel (J. D.) Harrell was born June 2, 1926 in Climax, Georgia. His parents, Paul Ronald Harrell and Vera Palmer Harrell, have preceded him in death. J. D. married the love of his life, Glenna Strickland Harrell, on December 2, 1949. They are a beautiful portrait of how marriage should look. J. D. was a hard worker. He owned and operated P. R. Harrell and Son, Inc. From driving trucks, to the jobs that go with being the president, he has done it all. He especially loved his old Mack truck. It was once said, if he could get it in the house, he would have slept with it. Mr. Harrell was a charter member of New Fountainhead Baptist Church. He has ministered as a Sunday School teacher and song leader. J. D. has served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed fishing and loved his catfish pond.
J. D. Harrell is survived by his wife of 69 years, Glenna Strickland Harrell of Climax, Georgia; children, Johnny Harrell and wife, Felecia and Janice Martin and husband, Randy; sister, Emma Jean Bell; grandchildren, Danyelle Griffin (Chad), Elizabeth Watson (Guy), Kristina Martin (Dana), and Amber Geisler (Ronnie); and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Emmie Watson, Gannon and Gracie Griffin, and Aubree and Paxton Geisler; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
