James Herman Griffin

James Herman Griffin, age 77, of Panama City, FL, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Services for James will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Beulah Thomas Church, 456 Woodhull Road, Bainbridge, GA. The Rev. Mike Albritton and the Rev. David Grubbs will officiate. Interment will follow in the Beulah Thomas Church Cemetery. Barry Dodson, Jonathan Carmichael, Joel Carmichael, Charles Weir, Noah Weir, and Josh Skipper will serve as pallbearers. Jerome Dodson, Buddy Johnston, Wiley Griffin, and Hunter Griffin will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 1:00 pm.

Mr. Griffin was born January 28, 1948, in Fitzgerald, GA, to Robert C. Griffin and Doris Elaine Pike Griffin. He grew up in Albany, Georgia. Albany is where he met the love of his life, Linda Kay Dodson. They married on April 4, 1969. James was a jokester. He loved to make people laugh. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved being outdoors and waterskiing on the Flint River. James was a Master Plumber and Master Electrician. In 1972, he started Griffin Plumbing Company. He was so talented at his work and stayed busy helping residents and businesses in Bainbridge until he closed in 2010. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith and dearly loved his family. James Herman Griffin will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

James Griffin is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Kay Dodson Griffin of Panama City; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Griffin Weir (Harvey) of Panama City, FL, and Krista Kai Griffin Carmichael (Lee) of Panama City, FL; siblings, Richard Griffin (Dorothy) of Leesburg, GA and Bill Griffin (Barbara) of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Charles Weir, Noah Weir (Courtney), Emma Kate Weir, Hunter Griffin (Sheigh), Kayelyn Griffin, Jonathan Carmichael, Joel Carmichael; and great-grandchildren, Emery, Adline, Rhett, Jayden, and Sebastian. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James Everett.

    James did plumbing work for me many years. We did some deer hunting too.
    He was a friend for many years.
