Sereese Ulmer Brown, age 61, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at her home in Cairo, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family.
Services for Mrs. Brown will be held Saturday, June 21, 11:00 am, at Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Matt Vickers will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Terry Widener, Tim Widener, Glenn Hester, Chris Miller, Billy Poitevint, Jason Maxwell, Chad Gainous, and Josh Gainous will serve as pallbearers. The Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday evening, at Eastside Baptist Church.
Melba Sereese Ulmer was born November 28, 1963, to William Clifford Ulmer and Melba Finch Ulmer. She was born and raised in Cairo, Georgia, graduating from Cairo High School. November 2, 2012, she married the love of her life, Michael Alan Brown. Sereese was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was a lady of strong faith with a beautiful smile and easy nature. Her positive attitude was contagious. Sereese loved the beach, camping, and fishing. She was a funny, loving Grammie, who deeply loved her family. A beautiful person, inside and out, all her wonderful attributes can’t be put into one paragraph. She lived her faith, was generous to help others, and simply will not be forgotten.
Sereese Brown is survived by her husband, Michael Alan Brown of Cairo; daughter, Brittany Tycelia Woodell of Douglas, Georgia; mother, Melba Finch Ulmer of Cairo; grandchildren, Colton Lane Kelley and Addyson Jeanette Abbott; her nieces (who lovingly called her “Reeses”), Nicole Harvard (Jason) of Talking Rock, Georgia, Alisha Gainous (Josh) of Whigham, Georgia, and Ferrahn Godwin (Michael) of Coolidge, Georgia; in-laws, Danny Brown (Nadine) of Recovery, Georgia, Gary Brown (Bonnie) of Leesburg, Georgia, Jeanette Gordon of Washington State, and Sherry Ann Whitfield of Bainbridge, Georgia; 6 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews and additional much-loved in-laws, including 3 nieces, 4 great-nieces, one great-great niece, 2 nephews, 4 great-nephews, and 1 great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, William Clifford Ulmer, and brother, Clifford Scott (Scotty) Ulmer.
