Avis T. Adamson Scott

November 25, 1935 – June 2, 2025

Avis T. Adamson Scott of Ft. Valley/Byron GA, age 89, passed away in Bainbridge, GA, peacefully leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family devotion. Born on November 25, 1935, Avis lived a long and full life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a deep commitment to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Scott; her cherished daughter, Marie A. Smith Alexander; her dear granddaughter, Dana Adamson; and her 4 brothers and 7 sisters, with whom she shared many treasured memories.

Avis is survived by her three loving sons Rev. Jimmy Adamson (Debbie) of Bainbridge, GA, Keith Adamson (Mary) of Ft. Valley, GA; Lee Adamson (Rhonda) of McDonough. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren- Jenni Stout of Columbia, SC, Brooke (Greg) Bedford, of Centerville, GA; Laura (Caleb) Sugg, of Macon, GA; Shaun (Josh) Sanders of Jonesboro, GA; Brian Smith of Macon; Katie (Jeremy) Merritt of Cummings, GA; Amy (Shane) Saunders of Canton, GA; Ben (Sarah) Adamson of Cartersville, GA. Fourteen great-grandchildren – Gavin Bedford; Dylan Sugg; Leo Merritt; Ethan and Zoe Stout; Grey, Charlotte and Oliver Sanders; Hartley, Abram, Emily Saunders; Ellie, Wells, and Ezra Adamson,  all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. And one brother, Linton  (Judy) Thompson, of Tennessee.  And many nieces and nephews. Her memory will live on through them.

Avis retired from Ft. Valley Middle School was a school lunchroom supervisor and was a talented Artist. Her home was always a place of comfort and her heart, a source of strength for those who knew her.

A graveside service will be held in Macon, Georgia at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Friday June 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in her honor. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, Avis requested donations may be made in her memory to Still Waters Women’s Shelter. PO Box 513 Bainbridge, GA 39818.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Willow Ridge Assisted Living in Bainbridge for all of their care, love and support during Avis’ time with them. She loved everyone she met and felt at home. Family would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice of Bainbridge, GA for their loving care.
