Mattie Lee Rabon was born April 18, 1944, in Sneads, FL, the daughter of Melvin & Allie Mae Weeks Rabon. She married Willie J. Hand in 1963, and Bainbridge became her home. She was a member of Solid Rock Church.

Mattie lived every day to serve the Lord. Her strong faith and desire to live in His will was a testament to those she loved. Family was the cornerstone, and she believed her “job” was to feed them both spiritually and physically. Mattie cooked on the regular expecting a full house if fried chicken, fried okra, and collard greens were on the menu. Working in her flower beds gave Mattie time to reflect on how God provides the increase when you are faithful to sow the seeds and tend his garden.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Willie J. Hand; her children, J.R. Hand (Reneé) of Colquitt and Randy Hand (Michelle) of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Amber, Lindsey & Mark, Austin, Aubrey & Addison, Bryant, and McKenzie; her great-grandchildren, Addison, Ansley, Knox, Colton, Rip, Adalyn, Emmanuel, and Graydon; and her siblings, Roy Lee Rabon (Sondra), Marie Hand (Bill), Irene Hand (Charles), and Betty Godwin (Frank). In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her sons, Melvin Hand and Jo Mack Hand, and her siblings, Eugene Rabon, Jessie Rabon, A.J. Tyus, and James Tyus.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
