Thelma Eudell Hiers was born November 29, 1932, in Quincy, FL, the daughter of Turner & Zelda Sanders Hiers. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1949, and attended Andrew College. She married Roy Harrison, and they made their home in Bainbridge. She was a member of Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church.
Thelma was a student of the Bible and lived her testimony as a faithful Christian. She set a high bar for others and loved them straight through their own spiritual growth. Thelma’s home was always open with a seat at the table for whomever should stop by. She especially enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings and chuckled as she remembered fun times from years past.
As an accomplished seamstress, her threads of love were seen and worn by many. Each piece was tailor-made and certainly prayed over. Thelma’s leadership did not end at the doorway of her home; she influenced people far and wide. She served as Past President of Women of GA Power and Woodman of the World Lodge in Bainbridge to name a couple.
Survivors include her children, Jackie Rhyner (Buck), Wendell Harrison, Gayle Landrum (Randy), Karol Butler (Joe), Paula Parker (special friend, JoAnne), and Keith Harrison (Tiffany); her daughter-in-law, Ginger Harrison; her grandchildren, Dawn, Nancy, Tina & Matt, Walt & Ashlee, Wally & Jen, BJ & Devon, Joey & Nikki, James, Jeremiah & Sarah, Joshua & Tristan, and Rachel & Reno; her several great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Yvonne Childs and Turner Hiers, Jr. (Peggy). In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Roy E. Harrison; her son, Kenny Harrison; and her brother-in-law, Elwyn Childs.
