Thomas Cleveland Watson was born March 11, 1955, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Cleveland & Hazel Westbrooks Watson. He was a graduate of Bainbridge Christian School. Tommy married Dorothy Rathel in 1976, and they made their home in Southwest Georgia. He owned Watson’s Used Cars which included a towing service. Tommy was a member of First Church of The Nazarene in Bainbridge.

Tinkering in the shop was not just a hobby, but a way of life for Tommy. He enjoyed restoring old things to “like new” condition and building his own cars. As a mechanic, he had the insider info on just how to soup up a car fit for drag racing. (Tommy may or may not have been known to lay a little drag…)

Tommy enjoyed being outside and riding the golf cart to feed his catfish. Playing golf with Tony gave him many memories to reflect upon. He took his role as provider very seriously and recognized family as the most important element of his life here on earth.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dorothy R. Watson; his daughter, Alicia W. Powell (Lee) of Brinson; his daughter-in-law, Carrie Watson of Donalsonville; his grandchildren, Mary, Cadie, Haley, Caleb, and Thomas Jr.; and his siblings, Sammy Watson (Gail) and Barbara Corder (Robert). In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his son, Tony Watson, and his sister, Charlene W. Evans.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
