Carol Lucille Williams was born August 16, 1949, in Donalsonville, GA, the daughter of Reason & Lucille Martin Williams. She was a graduate of Seminole County High School and earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Valdosta State College. Carol taught third, fourth, and fifth grades throughout her career, loving every moment she witnessed “the light in the children’s eyes.” She also served as PR Director for Wesley Glen Ministries for nine years in addition to serving as “the preacher’s wife” for over 48 years. Carol was a member of Attapulgus Methodist Church.
Carol’s strong faith was the foundation for the example she set. She loved unconditionally and cared for others without a second thought. She was a loyal Methodist and took on the role of “preacher’s wife” with gusto. Her mantra was “be careful what you pray for.”
Adventure was always on the horizon, and with Lynn, that meant many laughs. Carol was dedicated to her family and her felines. She made sure they were all spoiled rotten and then some.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Rev. Lynn Hurley; her children, Cecilia Hurley of Tallahassee, Joel Hurley of Valdosta, and Jeannie Hurley (Tim Stephens) of Atlanta; her brother, Kenneth Williams, and his wife, Pat, of Apopka; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Ray Williams.
