TIFTON, Ga. — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s (ABAC) Agripreneurs and Peanut Butter & Jesus (PB&J) have made a perfect combination again.
September saw the Agripreneurs pack 800 bags for PB&J during its semiannual Pizza and Packaging event.
This marks the 5th Pizza and Packaging hosted by the group, with the impactful event occurring each semester. Outside of PB&J, Pizza and Packaging has helped provide hurricane relief through local schools.
It was a reconnection between the groups, said Agripreneurs Club advisor and Lecturer of Agribusiness Jennifer Culpepper.
“The Ag Business Club used to volunteer with Peanut Butter & Jesus on the weekends,” said Culpepper. “After the success of the first Pizza and Packaging, we knew we wanted to continue our efforts to help local children.”
Before it was rebranded as the Agripreneurs, the group was known as the Ag Business Club.
Once the donations were received, the Agripreneurs put the bags together while enjoying a slice or two of pizza. Bags included juice, fruit snacks, Cheez-Its, Goldfish crackers, granola bars, Slim Jims and cookies.
PB& J is a longstanding program with branches throughout South Georgia. Once a week, volunteers deliver lunch bags throughout Tift County.
“Agripreneurs believes that it is important to help make a difference in the community especially organizations like Peanut Butter & Jesus who help children in need,” said Agripreneurs President Chloe Boatright of Baxley, Ga. “Being able to help in the community teaches us to not take what we have for granted and do everything we can to show kindness to those who may not receive it everyday. Our club is blessed to have the opportunity and resources to collect items and snacks that are needed and donate them to Peanut Butter & Jesus. We are able to come together as one club and be reminded that our actions can work towards a greater goal of supporting our community and the people in it.”
