Phyllis Wilson Mitchell

August 22, 1947 – August 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that the family of Phyllis Wilson Mitchell, age 78, of Bainbridge, GA announce her peaceful passing Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Services for Ms. Mitchell will be held Sunday, August 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home, Bainbridge, GA. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Garet Franklin, Zane Griffin, Dee Brock, Ed Robinson, Jeff Fogle, Ansley Yarbrough, Jeff Napier, Bryant Fagan and Chris Carroll will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends after the service. A private, family interment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, Florida. This is a celebration of her life and Homegoing, please wear your happiest colors and no black clothing.

Born on August 22, 1947, in Monticello, Florida to Raymond F. Wilson and Marian Marvine Peacock Wilson, Phyllis was a woman whose kindness and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She graduated from Bainbridge High School, Class of 1965. Phyllis worked in Customer Service at Riverbend Ford for over 30 years. She devoted her life to her family and her community. She found joy in the simple things: gardening, baking, working, and she never missed an opportunity to make those around her feel loved. She adored her “grands” and loved the Christmas season. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her beautiful smile, and her willingness to always put others first.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Karen Rentz, Cliff Dollar (Kellie) and Mendy Yarbrough (Ansley) all of Bainbridge; brother, Butch Wilson (Anne) of Bainbridge; sisters, Nancy Benton (Bill) of Bushnell, Florida and Marian Perry (Charles) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Tyler Rentz (Maitlyn), Carlee Dollar, Dru Dollar, Ali Roberts, Ruth Yarbrough and Bolton Yarbrough; great-grandchild, Kohen Rentz; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved pets, Roxie and Spencer.

The family wishes a very special thank-you to Bettye Muscarella, Alexis Chrispen, Hannah Roland and the other caregivers who cared so lovingly for our dear, sweet Phyllis. Also, many thanks to Kim Bowles and GA Hospice Care, Memorial Manor and Kaye’s Caring Hands.
