John Thomas Walker was born September 8, 1984, in Tallahassee, FL. He graduated from Amos P. Godby High School in 2003. After moving to Bainbridge, John spent more than 10 years serving his community as both a firefighter and police officer with Bainbridge Public Safety. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard, completing three deployments to Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Djibouti, Africa. John was proud of his years in public service and continued to serve his community as a Climax volunteer firefighter and city councilman. He was a member of Grace Church.
Away from work and service, John enjoyed NASCAR, cheering on FSU football, and spending time with his family, especially his children. He had a playful side and was always ready to pull a practical joke or aggravate his sister just to get a reaction. John had a way of keeping those around him on their toes, and his family meant the world to him.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Candice W. Walker; his children, J.J. Walker, Skyla Walker, Jacob Walker, and Samantha Walker; his parents, Cindy Fray and John & Darlene Walker; his sister, Michelle Belle (Chris); his maternal grandmother, Betty Little; and a host of extended family. J.T. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom Little and Joan & John Walker.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
