Anthony Neal Jenkins was born October 21, 1961, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to Bobby Jenkins and Loraine Palmer. Tony grew up in Albany, Georgia and married Sharon Alday Jenkins. He proudly served in the US Navy. Tony was an avid fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs, Go Red and Black! He loved to watch baseball, especially the Braves. Fishing was one of his favorite things, especially crappie. He worked hard and was a good husband. Tony dedicated 25 years of service to the City of Bainbridge and was truly one of a kind. He was well known and respected throughout our community. He had a genuine love for his job and for the city he served for so many years. As the City’s Utilities Field Operations Superintendent, Tony had an incredible knowledge of Bainbridge and our utility system. He knew where things were, how they worked, and had the kind of knowledge that only comes from years of experience and dedication. He took great pride in his work and was the person everyone turned to when they needed answers about our underground utilities. One would say, “Tony had a memory like an elephant.”

Tony also represented Bainbridge well beyond our community, serving as Past President of the Georgia Utilities Coordinating Council (GUCC). In his final years with the City, he served as the Bainbridge Fiber Field Operations Manager and played an instrumental role in the city’s fiber construction project. He was a trusted resource for utility contractors and agencies, including Georgia Power, Mediacom, AT&T, and GDOT.

Tony will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
