Joel Darsey Humphrey was born November 2, 1957, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Robert & Janie Darsey Humphrey. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Joel owned his own truck driving outfit, Desert Rose Transport. He was Methodist by faith.
After countless miles on the open road and many hours on the farm, Joel took solace in the quietness of nature. He loved fishing, spent a little time hunting, and was always on the lookout for that elusive big buck. In later years, he embraced new interests with the same curiosity he brought to everything, flying drones and eventually fulfilling a dream by earning his pilot’s license. He preferred the calm of open land, fair skies, and still water over the noise of the world.
Survivors include his siblings, Helen Bartosz, Marion Humphrey, and Don Humphrey; his nieces & nephews, Adam, Helen & Warren, Elizabeth, Patty, Jared & Emily, Silas, Mindy & Jeffrey, Maeson, Gunner, Robby & Tristan, and Rhodes; and a host of extended family. Joel was preceded in death by his parents.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
