Lian Sheng Dried Plum recalled due to undeclared sulfites
Rong Shing Trading NY Inc., 47-57 Bridgewater Street, Brooklyn, NY is recalling its 5.8oz (165g) packages of “Lian Sheng Dried Plum” because they contain undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled “Lian Sheng Dried Plum” were distributed nationwide in retail stores. The product is packaged in a 5.8oz (165g), clear plastic bottle marked with an expiration date of 11/13/2023 stamped on the side. The product UPC code is 6928580581396.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 5.8oz (165g) packages of Dried Plum which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Dried Tangerine Plum revealed they contained 21.91 milligrams per serving.

Public health alert issued for charcuterie meat products due to potential Salmonella contamination
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert out of an abundance of caution due to concerns about Salmonella illnesses that may be associated with ready-to-eat (RTE) charcuterie meat products in Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler and Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta.
The Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta was sold at Costco in a 24-oz. twin-pack (two 12-oz. trays). The Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler was sold at Sam’s Club in an 18-oz. twin-pack (two 9-oz. trays). Any lot code associated with either product is potentially contaminated. The products are no longer available for purchase at Costco and Sam’s Club.
The products of concern bear establishment number “EST. 7543B” and/or “EST. #47967” inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed on the package. Label images can be found in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Food Safety Alert.
FSIS has been working with the CDC and state public health partners to investigate a multistate outbreak of 47 Salmonella I 4:i:- illnesses in 22 states with onset dates ranging from November 20, 2023, through January 1, 2024. In the ongoing outbreak investigation, the state of Minnesota identified the outbreak strain from an unopened Busseto brand charcuterie sampler, which led to recall 01-2024 on January 3, 2024. FSIS will continue the investigation and issue new information as it becomes available.
Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. The most common symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 6 hours to 6 days after eating the contaminated product. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Most people recover without treatment. In some persons, however, the diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop a severe illness. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact their health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Public health alert issued for frozen pork dumpling products due to no benefit of federal inspection
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert because Dim Sum Factory Inc., a Flushing, N.Y., establishment, produced and distributed raw, frozen pork dumpling products without the benefit of federal inspection. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase.
The raw, frozen pork wonton dumpling products were produced on various dates since September 6, 2023, and have a shelf life of 18 months. The following product is subject to the public health alert [view label]:
- 1.5-lb. vacuum-packed packages containing “GOGO DUMPLING Pork & Shepherd’s Purse Wontons (Handmade).”
The products bear establishment number “EST. 1656” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a distributor in New York and sold online nationwide.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities. FSIS determined that the location where the pork wonton products were being produced were not on the official premises of the establishment and, therefore, were not inspected.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
