BHS FFA Members exhibit cattle at the 2023 Georgia Junior Beef Futurity

The Georgia Junior Beef Futurity is cattle show open to FFA and 4-H members across the state of Georgia. The show was held in Perry, Georgia, from Thursday, July 6th, through Saturday, July 8th.

Ansley and Addison Cook are senior FFA members at Bainbridge High School and are the daughters of Amber Cook and Eddie Cook. Addison and Ansley have been showing cattle for 7 years.

Showmanship was held on Friday, July 7th. In showmanship class, the exhibitor is evaluated based on how well he or she handles the animal and how the animal and exhibitor articulate the showring in tandem. In addition, the judge can ask the exhibitor questions that relate to their animal and the beef industry. On Friday, the Cook’s competed in the scholarship round of the competition and in the senior showmanship division.

Ansley Cook placed first in her class during the Simmental show.


Addison Cook placed sixth in her class during the Commerical show.

On Saturday, Ansley exhibited her Simmental heifer, Dakota, and Ansley exhibited her Commerical heifer, Betsy. During the heifer show, the judge evaluates the animal on conformation, structural integrity, eye appeal, and performance. During the Simmental show, Ansley placed 1st in her class. During the Commerical show, Addison placed 6th in her class.

BHS FFA is very proud when its members have success with their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects.
