Weekly Food Recalls Impacting Georgia

Bob Evans Farms Foods, Inc., a Xenia, Ohio establishment, is recalling approximately 7,560 pounds of Italian pork sausage products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically thin blue rubber, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The raw, Italian pork sausage items were produced on September 8, 2022. The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

  • 1-lb. chubs containing “Bob Evans Italian Sausage” with lot code XEN3663466 and a “USE/FRZ BY” date of 11/26/22, with a time stamp between 14:43 and 15:25.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6785” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nation-wide.

The problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS it had received consumer complaints reporting thin blue pieces of rubber in the product.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Seed Ranch Flavor Co. of Boulder, CO, is voluntarily recalling its 5 fl ounce bottles of “Umami Everyday Sauce” and “Everything But The Sushi & Dumplings” sauce because they contain undeclared soy. People who have allergies to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recalled “Umami Everyday Sauce” and “Everything But The Sushi & Dumplings” were distributed nationwide in select retail stores, through Amazon.com, and the company’s own website, www.seedranchflavor.com

The products come in 5 fluid ounce, glass woozy bottles.

Lot codes and best-by dates can be found on the upper portion of the glass bottle, above the label, printed in either black or orange directly on the glass bottle. Below are photos of affected labels.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the soy-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not explicitly reveal the presence of soy. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes during a label redesign.

Production of the products with incorrect labels have been suspended and allergen information clearly disclosed on corrected labels.

Consumers who have purchased 5 fl ounce bottles of “Umami Everyday” or “Everything But The Sushi & Dumplings” are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement. Sotto i Trulli INC/DBA Bombolo Biscotti, is recalling its Assorted Italian Cookies, because it contains Italian Wedding Cookies with undeclared walnut ingredient. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnut allergen, run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product was distributed to Publix Supermarkets in Lakeland Fl, Orlando Fl, Deerfield Fl, Atlanta GA, and McLeansville NC. The Product comes in a 16 oz clear plastic clamshell, with Bombolo Biscotti label, marked with lot # 092222 on the case label, Expiration date 04/05/2023 on top of the package, UPC code 852158002272 at the bottom of the package.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Lone Star Bakery, Inc., a China Grove, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 5,740 pounds of beef shepherd’s pie products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically copper wire pieces, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The frozen beef shepherd’s pie products were produced on April 1, 2022, with a use by date of Sept. 23, 2023. The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

  • 8-oz. carton packages containing “BOOMERANG’S BEEF SHEPHERD’S PIE” with “USE BY 092323” on the label.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “Est. 31772” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributor and retail locations in California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

The problem was discovered when the firm notified FSIS that they received consumer complaints reporting entwined copper wire embedded in beef shepherd’s pie products with a use by date of Sept. 23, 2023.

There have been no confirmed reports of injury associated with consumption of this product, but FSIS believes the copper wire pieces could be sharp and possibly cause an injury. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
