The Bainbridge FFA Chapter recently competed with 25 other chapters in the South Region in the Area 5 Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event (LDE) held at ABAC on March 15th, 2022. Team members included: Chairman-Taryn Powell, Secretary-Brent Miller, Carson Lynn, Addison Cook, Macy Goodman and Pierce Taunton. This team was trained by Victoria Hill, FFA Advisor at Bainbridge High School.

The Parliamentary Procedure LDE is designed to develop leadership skills and teach students how to effectively participate in business meetings. By participating in the LDE, students will be able to demonstrate correct use of the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies, demonstrate parliamentary procedure to conduct an orderly, efficient meeting, communicate and participate effectively as a team member, and demonstrate critical thinking and teamwork for effective decision making.

This team advanced to the state event in April held at the 94th Georgia FFA State Convention in Macon, GA.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of more than 760,000 student members – all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture – as part of 8,739 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The National FFA Organization changed to its present name in 1988, in recognition of the growth and diversity of agriculture and agricultural education. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The National FFA Organization operates under a Federal Charter granted by the 81st Congress of the United States, and is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture. The Georgia FFA Association has a membership of more than 73,000, making it the third largest association in the nation. The Georgia Department of Education provides leadership and helps set direction for FFA as a service to the local agricultural education programs.
