APPLICATIONS FOR Bainbridge Public Safety’s “Christmas for Kids” are NOW AVAILABLE!

About “Christmas for Kids” (formerly known as “Shop With a Cop”):

The purpose of “Christmas For Kids” is to help families, especially children, have a positive connection with law enforcement. It’s possible that the children we help have come from broken homes, have been placed in foster care, or may simply be down on their luck and/or even near homelessness.

Bainbridge Public Safety officers and other City of Bainbridge volunteers use a child’s submitted wishlist to shop for Christmas! Officers and volunteers browse the store aisles with a child’s wishlist in hand. After shopping, these items are combined with donations that have been provided by community partners through our “Christmas Toy Drive.” The treasures are wrapped in an array of festive paper, and then the families are asked to come and gather their gifts, just in time for Christmas morning!

This will be the 8th year that Bainbridge Public Safety has hosted “Shop With a Cop/Christmas for Kids.” Over the years, we have teamed up with local organizations such as the Decatur County School System, the local Department of Family and Children Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Salvation Army, to bring the program to underprivileged families who live in our city.

Bainbridge Public Safety is very thankful to the Bainbridge Walmart for supporting our initiative each year with a local community grant. The grant is combined with funds received throughout the year from the sale of our “Back the Blue” T-shirts and yard signs.
