“How forcible are right words!” (Job 6: 25).
We have words because we have thoughts. Our thoughts are only communicable with words. Thoughts are invisible and private. With words we make them visible, public, applicable and shareable. Words are used to reveal the unseen mind. Speaking is the immediate form of that revelation. Writing is the mediate form of that revelation.
Men speak in an effort to reveal their mind. With words we inject into the public the image we hold in our mind in an effort to transplant it into another mind and change that mind.
Sometimes men speak without thinking, but it’s impossible to think and not speak.
Words explain our thoughts and give them body and animation. If we only think with ourselves, the world never sees our thoughts, but if we transcribe our thoughts into words they fly around the world.
There are some thoughts that we should hold and never release with words. Other thoughts we should graft into words so that everyone can have them. We only read some persons thoughts when they transform them into words. Our mind is only accessible to those we communicate with. The number of words we use determines our accessibility.
Thoughts have power. That power comes from our will. That power is released into the public domain through words. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. See Proverbs 18: 21.
Jesus the Son of God is called The Word of God. See Jn. 1: 1, 14; 1 Jn. 1: 1; 5: 7; Rev. 19: 13.
Just as a spoken or written word reveals an invisible thought, Jesus, the Word of God reveals the Father Who is invisible. “Who (Christ) is the image of the invisible God” (Col. 1: 15). See also 2 Cor. 4: 4; Heb. 1: 3. God, Who is private and invisible made Himself public, visible, applicable, and shareable through His Son Jesus Christ.
God uses words because He has thought. God’s thoughts and words have power. He spoke and the universe was created according to His will. He spoke His holy will to the prophets and we have it written in our Bible. He expressed His holy will through His Son Jesus Christ, the Living Word.
God gave us His Word because He wanted to reveal Himself to mankind, and become accessible through His Son. See Jn. 14: 6.
