Benny W. King, 89, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Zearing officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Darrell King, Will Cannon, Jake King, John King, Billy King and Edwin King serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Benny Wayne King was born April 11, 1929 in Rock Bluff, FL, the son of James Benjamin King and Henrietta Cloud King. He married Margaret Jeanette Shiver, who preceded him in death, and made his home in Decatur County. Benny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

A man of many talents, Benny King was known for his carpentry. He retired from construction after building many homes in southwest Georgia. He shared his love of construction with his sons and grandson who continue his legacy. His children describe him as “the best daddy” and never took for granted all the times they “just went fishing”. Benny served his community through the VFW, where he was a Past Commander, Orion Lodge #8 F&AM and Hasan Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his children, Michael Wayne King and his wife, Beverly, of Bainbridge, Marcia King Allen and her husband, Aaron, of Havana, FL, and Steven Scott King, also of Bainbridge; his sister, Lila Bennett of Attapulgus; his grandchildren, Darrell, Will and Erin; his great-grandchildren, Jake, John and Colton; and his great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jordan. In addition to his parents and his wife, Benny was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Bill and Leonard; and his granddaughter, Jessi.
