Mavis Yates Greene, 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dean and Pastor Scott Messer officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Phil Yates, Joe Yates, Brian Dodson, Kevin Dodson, W.C. Yates and Jason Bryan serving as active pallbearers.

Mavis Louise Yates was born November 11, 1933 in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of Son Yates and Mattie Lou Spires Yates. She was a graduate of Miller County High School. She married William Olin Greene who proceeded her in death. Mavis retired from Southern Bell with 37 years of service. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Even though she was known as the one who could “keep everyone straight”, Mavis loved her family unconditionally. Her grandchildren and great-grands brought her joy unspeakable. Mavis enjoyed shopping and working in her yard especially when she could recruit her family and friends to join in.
Survivors include her son, Mark Greene and his wife, Marsha, of Donalsonville; her brother, Mart Yates of Panama City, FL; her grandchildren, Tony & Keri Greene and Megan & Lance Avera; and her great-grandchildren, Mara, T.J. and Madi. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mavis was preceded in death by her son, Mike Greene; and her siblings, Geraldine Bryan, Betty Peterson, Jenean Jankowski, Charlie Yates, W.C. Yates and Hilton Yates.
