Jean Sadler

Jean Sadler, 78, of the Delwood Community, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Donnie McLendon, Shawn McLendon, Aaron Wingate, Chance McLendon, Frankie Wisham, Keisha Wingate and Faith McLendon Cutchin will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Katherine Jean Dougherty was born April 24, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Mable Dougherty. She married L. B. Sadler and made her home in the Delwood Community. Jean worked as a cook for Memorial Hospital and Manor until her retirement.

Jean loved people and her dogs, especially Mollie. Her grandchildren could count on her to share candy and a good country music song. She was described as “spirited” and those that knew her well knew she didn’t mind sharing her thoughts on most any subject. Jean had quite a sense of humor.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy Ray McLendon, Susan McLendon, Larry Eugene McLendon, and his wife, Linda, Allen McLendon, Paul McLendon and his wife, Pam, Dale McLendon and his wife, Vicki, Kenneth McLendon and his wife, Patricia, Teresa Machone Sadler, Kirk Sadler and his wife, Lacia, Angie Hawthorn and her husband, James, and Jackie Poitevint and her husband, DeWayne; her brother, Howard Dougherty; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, L. B. Sadler; and her son, Donald Glenn McLendon.
