Charles John Zotyka was born September 5, 1927 in East Bernard, TX, the son of John Zotyka and Elizabeth Janik Zotyka. He was a graduate of East Bernard High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Barbara Ann Duncan, who preceded him in death. Chuck and Barbara moved to Decatur County in 1973. He was a member of Celebration Baptist Church and retired as a purchasing manager from Englehard.

Chuck was a man of many things. He traveled to every state except Hawaii and Alaska and even has some stories from overseas. As a child of the Dust Bowl and Depression, he could not bring himself to part with anything he might need one day. Thus the stories of his travels come with tangible evidence of the adventures. He instilled a strong work ethic in his sons and taught them every little thing is worth something to someone. Chuck adored his family and would say grandchildren were the gravy to his potatoes.

Survivors include his sons, Charles J. “Chuck” Zotyka, Jr. and his wife, Beth, and Tom Zotyka and Veronica Lipford, all of Faceville; his grandchildren, Brandi and Karri; his great-grandchildren, Charley, Lily and Cheyne; and a special friend, Dorothy Austin of Eagle Lake, TX. Chuck Sr. was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Duncan Zotyka; his sister, Agnes Z. Kovar and his granddaughter, Megan.
