Bernice Maxine Anderson was born February 26, 1934, in Orlando, FL, the daughter of Hub & Rosie Anderson. She married Floyd Stills in 1949, and they made their home in Virginia. Maxine moved to southwest Georgia in 2005. She was Methodist by faith.
Maxine took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a meticulous housekeeper who tended to her family’s every need with care and intention. Her love was most often expressed in those everyday moments. Maxine was raised during the Great Depression and carried those lessons with her throughout her life. She was resourceful, careful, and never wasted anything, values that shaped not only how she lived, but how she cared for those around her. Though she kept a small circle of friends, she cherished those relationships deeply. Her loyalty and kindness made those bonds lasting and meaningful.
Survivors include her children, Pat Spivey, Pam Fillmore, and Tim Stills (Gerardo); her grandchildren, David, Matthew, Glynn, Kent, and Craig; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Vonier; her special nieces, Jean Vonier and Kathy Davis; and her dear friend, Chanda Brock. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Stills, and her sister, Jacquelyn Jones.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
