Annie Ethel Knight King

December 13, 1944 – March 12, 2024

Annie Ethel Knight King, age 79, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. King will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m., at Blackjack Baptist Church. Mr. Charlie Brock, the Rev. Edward Seabrooks, and Rev. Dr. Jack Piland will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.. Logan King, Steve Knight, David Knight, Jermain Wiggings, Mason Bailey, and Charlie Brock will serve as pallbearers.

Annie Ethel Knight was born December 13, 1944, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Her parents, Thurman L. Knight and Annie Ethel Alford Knight have preceded her in death. She was raised in Bainbridge and lived here her whole life. She married Jimmy R. King, who preceded her in death 1987. Ethel worked 17 years in the Decatur County Tax Office. Ethel was a Christian who loved God, was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church, and served her church faithfully. Ethel was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed the great-grandmother part. Ethel played the organ and piano by β€œear”, mostly for her own enjoyment but was talented. She loved to work in her yard and loved to sew. This loving and devoted lady will be missed beyond words.

Mrs. King is survived by her children, Melissa Lightsey (Ronnie), Herman Leslie Haire, Jr, Meta Nunn (Henry), and Crystel Boatwright (Richard ); grandchildren, Alexus Haley, Ciera Medina, Logan King (Adriana), Lesley Jean Bailey (Mason), Brittney Boatwright, Chelsey Boatwright, and B. J. Haire; and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be sent in her honor to Blackjack Baptist Church,
Bainbridge, Georgia.
