Alice Wynette Holmes

January 2, 1941 – November 2, 2023

Alice Wynette Holmes, age 82, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2023, at her home in Cairo, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alice Wynette Ouzts was born January 2, 1941, in Tallahassee, Florida to Eddie Howell Ouzts, Sr. and Birdie Cecil Slaton Ouzts. Wynette was a kind and caring friend to all. Her children described her as a loving and devoted mother. She was a generous giver, selfless when it came to helping those in need. Wynette married Ray Kosciw. She and Ray were blessed with four wonderful children. Ray passed away and she bravely carried on. Later, she married Raymond Holmes. She and Ray blended their beautiful families. Ray Holmes passed away in July of this year. Wynette was an accountant and treated her clients like family. They would come into the Tax Express with their tax problems and stay to talk with Wynette about their life situations. Wynette was the rock of her family. Always there to help, support, or sympathize. She was an avid reader and loved to work on any sort of puzzle. Wynette loved to watch Survivor and Big Brother. Devoted to her family and a friend to all, Wynette Holmes will be deeply missed.

Alice Wynette Holmes is survived by her children, Dennis Kosciw of Marianna, Florida, David and Diane Kosciw of Cairo, Phillip Kosciw of Cairo, Angie and Danny Elkins of Camilla, Georgia, Randy and Chris Holmes of Loganville, Georgia, and Robin and Martin Halvorson of Havelock, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kosciw, Sebastian Lopez, Ericka Green (Rod Green), Amelia Faircloth (Billy), Luke Elkins (Alexis), Holden Kosciw, Liza Kosciw, Eli Kosciw, Tim Pearson, Michael Pearson, Lauren Holmes and Mandy Holmes; great grandchildren, Jaken Green, Ellie Rae Green, Wyatt Faircloth, Westin Faircloth, Maeleigh Elkins, Emmarie Kosciw, K.J. Kosciw, Tylan Kosciw, Brayden Pearson, Levi Tolbert, and Tibby Tolbert; sisters, Joann Cassels and Emily Rowan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Cecil Ouzts, husband, Raymond Holmes, and siblings, Howell Ouzts, Johnny Ouzts, and Janice Schreffler.
