Tomorrow

“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27: 1 KJV).

Tomorrow exists only in the imagination. Tomorrow does not become real until it becomes today. And it is only a memory when it becomes yesterday. Tomorrow is the future, today is the present, and yesterday is the past. We live our life through this series of three that we repeat until we die on some today.

As tomorrow exists only in the imagination, so does everything we plan for tomorrow. Tomorrow has not become a reality for us unless we are awake to see today. Then the plans we imagined yesterday become real tasks that we bring to fruition today.

When we live through this series of three for many years, we begin to rely on and boast about tomorrow and many tomorrows to come when we have yet to see the closest tomorrow.

We have the power of choice or self-will and the power of self-determination in which we choose our goals and use our energies to reach those goals. All our hope in realizing our dreams and fulfilling our plans and reaching our goals and having success is based on a very long line of tomorrows that only exists in the imagination. But as promising as our goals and plans may seem, we are not promised tomorrow.

Most people are concerned about their immediate future or tomorrow and make plans and preparations to shape it to their own liking. The future they’re manipulating and shaping pertains to their temporal existence, which may end tomorrow. The future they should be concerned about pertains to their eternal existence, which may begin tomorrow.
