Jan Heard, 72, of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Dean, Jamie Ard, and Mason Ard officiating.

Jan Heard was born July 15, 1951, in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of Lee Roy & Erlene Griffin Heard. She was a graduate of Miller County High School and lived her entire life in Southwest Georgia. Jan was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Jan was a humble lady with a good-natured and sweet soul. She lived to please the Lord, and she did so by living out the two great commandments found in Matthew 22:36-40: “Love the Lord God with all your heart” and “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” She demonstrated her love for the Lord by seeking to obey Him by serving Him as He led her. Her favorite area of service at the church involved helping with children especially at Vacation Bible School. She also demonstrated her love for others by doing anything she could to help them. She was known to take people to the store if they didn’t have a ride, volunteer for hospice duty, and visit people who were otherwise lonely. As mentioned, Jan was humble, but the one thing she would brag about frequently is how she “helped raise” her nephew, Jamie, and her nieces, April & Emily. She was always proud of them no matter what!
Jan’s favorite things to do were Bible study, collecting various items, and watching the news so she could keep everyone updated on what’s happening in the world, especially the weather! There is no doubt that her life had a great purpose, and that she will be missed immensely. There is also no doubt she is rejoicing in Heaven after hearing her Lord and Savior say the following to her: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Survivors include her siblings, Amy & James Ard of Baker, GA and Delores Cloud of Athens, GA; and her nieces & nephews, Jamie Ard, April Louviere, Emily Ard, Ronald Cloud, Tammye Cloud, Mona Stevenson, Kathy Cloud, Glenn Heard, Kay Meyers, Missy Beckham, Angela King, and Jimmy Heard. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Heard, RG Heard, and Waymon Heard; and her nephews, Daryl Heard, Ray Heard, and Greg Heard.
