William Douglas Odom was born November 24, 1947, in Donalsonville, GA, the son of Bessie Bland Odom. After high school, Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army. Though Doug worked for a number of years at Amoco Fabrics, his real job was being the #1 Mercury mechanic and maintaining the “news location” reputation as owner of Bainbridge Marine. He was an original member of Bainbridge Bass Club and helped produce the Jack Wingate show in the early days. Doug and Pam married in 1985 and enjoyed food, fun, and fellowship wherever they went. He was Baptist by faith.

Doug was a storyteller, rarely revealing his sources and redacting names only if necessary. He had a great sense of humor and was full of one-liners. In tense situations, you could count on Doug to break it up with just a few words. He enjoyed freshwater & saltwater fishing, dove hunting, cooking for his family & friends, traveling to Biloxi (and even winning occasionally), and tending his animals. Doug’s cats, dogs, and chickens knew they were living their best lives. He was a man of integrity who actively supported law enforcement. It has been told Doug never went on the water without towing someone in even when he didn’t have a rope. Family, the ones related by blood and the ones Doug chose, knew without a doubt he loved unconditionally and forever.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Pam Anderson Odom; his children, Kyle & Katie Odom of Bainbridge, Kim & Robby Gullage of Donalsonville, and Seth & Alicia Cloud also of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Rob & Meghann, Kailey, Nyles, Aiden, Cullen, and Aubree; his great-grandchildren, Xander, Xayne, Elayna, Embry, and Kylus; his siblings, Clint Odom (Reeca) of Ripley, MS and Kathy Haley (Don) of Donalsonville, GA; and his “daddy”, Jeff Maxwell. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Bland Ambra Maxwell, and the man who raised him as his own, Joe David Ambra.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
