Susan Elizabeth Rich Ouzts, age 71, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at Legacy Village in Thomasville, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Ouzts will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 17, at Morningside Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. The Rev. Jimmy Dean will officiate. Curtis Brown, Holden Burdick, Zack Burdick, Thomas Avery, Kevin Cloud, and Bobby Brown will serve as pallbearers. A private interment will be held in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00.
Susan was born April 10, 1952, in Pelham, Georgia to Leonard Leroy Rich and Helen White Rich. She graduated from Cairo High School. Susan married the love of her life, Larry James Ouzts. She and Larry enjoyed 48 years together before his death in 2019. Susan loved to read and enjoyed going to the beach. Shopping with her girls brought her great joy. Susan loved holidays but she was over the top during Christmas. She retired from working as an employee of the state of Georgia at the Bainbridge Probation Substance Abuse Treatment Center. Gifted with a hearty laugh, it carried and was memorable, Susan found her joy in her family. Her girls said she was the best mother in the world. Susan Ouzts will be missed by her loving family and many friends.
Susan Ouzts is survived by her children, Holly Ouzts Burdick and Lori Brown (Bobby) both of Bainbridge; her sister, Kathy Smith (Randy) of Cairo, Georgia; grandchildren, Curtis Brown (Morgan), Alissa Brown, Holden Burdick, and Zack Burdick; and great-granddaughter, Avery Claire Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepmother Oneita Rich, and brother Craig Brock.
