John Hubert Lyons, age 60, of Whigham, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with David Grubbs officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Big John was born December 16, 1962 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the son of Hubert L Lyons and Ann Elizabeth Lyons. He grew up riding horses and bulls. He loved hunting, fishing, and loving every minute. Big John loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He retired from Publix as a Store Manager and started working with Knight Forestry as a truck driver. He loved scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and the thrill of the catch. You could find him outdoors, spending time with his family, and enjoying life. Big John had season tickets to the Miami Dolphins and loved attending the Marlins and Hurricanes games with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Teresa Marie Lyons; children, Tanya Burris (B.J.) of Bainbridge, GA and John Lyons (Katie) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Layton, Taydem, Vada Burris, Highlie, Elisity, and John Lawson Lyons; brother, Tom Lyons (Melissa) of Whigham, GA; nephew, Kyle Harris; niece, Mallory Lyons; and father-in-law, George Lawson.
Big John was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Bessie Haggerty; and his mother-in-law, Kate Lawson.
The Lyons family has entrusted the arrangements to Ivey Funeral Home, 502 S. Scott Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
