Mary Ruth Brown was born February 18, 1931, in Greensboro, FL, the daughter of Samuel & Annie Cooper Brown. She was Valedictorian of Greensboro High School, Class of 1948. Ruth married the love of her life, Edward Roy Sansom, shortly after graduation, and they made their home in Greensboro and later Lake Seminole. She moved with Anne to Bainbridge eighteen years ago returning to the place she said, “I do”. Ruth retired from State of Florida Retirement System as Bureau Chief though her working years included the school office, the cigar factory and bookkeeping for Buryl Higdon. She was a member of Greensboro Methodist Church.

People were always more important than possessions to “Miss” Ruth. Everyone was equal and beautiful in their own right. She held a strong faith which she practiced as a quiet disciple. Leading by example, she worked full time while volunteering for whatever Anne was involved in at school, church, the band, and, later in life, “projects”. Traveling to the mountains or the beach always prompted fond memories of days gone by. “Miss” Ruth was quoted, “Let your life preach your funeral” and that she did.

Survivors include her daughter, the apple of her eye for 74 years, Anne Sansom of Bainbridge, and her “chosen” grandchildren, Marlee Powell, Morgan Powell, Austin Aldridge, and Ashton Aldridge. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Roy Sansom.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
