Donald Luther Griffin, 76, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Donald Luther Griffin was born April 30, 1947, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of James Elbert & Minnie Layton Griffin. He retired as a manager for Inland stations with Southwest Georgia Oil. Donald was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Donald enjoyed the outdoors. While many would consider fishing the more enjoyable of activities, he held dressing as Santa at Christmas one step above fishing. Donald was an artist in his own right. His drawings and woodworking were evidence of a creative mind that embraced different mediums and outlets.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Doris Shattles Griffin; his children, Diane & Danny VunCannon of Troy, NC, Debie & Eddie Williams of Tallahassee, FL Christie & Nathan Childs also of Tallahassee, FL and Becky & Tracy Posey of Vada; his grandchildren, Chelsea & Eric, Chloe, Jackson, Jorja, Judson, Nicholas, Landon, Emma, and Ansley & Justin; his great-grandchildren, Aubree, Savannah, and Grayson; his siblings, Patricia Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Durrance of Sun City, FL, and Stan Griffin and his wife, Dale, of Bainbridge; and a large extended family including a special niece, Andi Weathersby. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Vernon Griffin, Gail Weathersby, and Larry Griffin.
