Mr. Daniel Franklin Brinson, age 83, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his home in Cairo, Georgia surrounded by his loving family. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia. Dr. Kenneth Cloud will be officiating. Charles Brinson, James Earl Brinson, Alex Brinson, Christopher Lamb, Steven Johnson, and Kaulin Brinson will serve as pallbearers. Charles Preston and Patrick Ouzts will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Daniel Franklin Brinson was born September 23, 1939, in Coosa County (Rockford), Alabama, to Albert D. Brinson and Lorena Matilda Huett Brinson. Dan spent most of his life in Grady County, Georgia. He graduated from Cairo High School, class of 1958. September 11, 1958, he married the love of his life, Brenda Jean Harrell. Brenda and Dan shared 45 years together before her passing in 2003. Daniel Brinson was a charter member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church. He was a man of faith. He had strong convictions and was faithful to his church and church family. You always knew where you stood with Dan. He believed in and spoke the truth. Family was the most important thing to Dan. Being PawPaw brought him great joy. He loved working in genealogy and finding family from the past. Mr. Brinson worked hard to care for his family. There was a time he worked 3 jobs at the same time to care for his large clan. He retired from Plantation Pipeline. Dan was a talented wood and leather carver. He has carvings on display at the Roddenbery Library and the Grady County Museum and History Center. Dan always had his camera with him. He enjoyed taking photographs of his church family, his own family, and gatherings he attended. He always had a broad smile on his face and a willing heart for his neighbors. He was once in the local paper for growing the largest rutabaga in Grady County! Not many have that claim to fame! Daniel Brinson will be deeply missed by his loving family and many, many friends.
Mr. Brinson is survived by his children, Juanita King (Mike) of Cairo, Albert Brinson (Dawn) of Columbus, Georgia, Celiece Brinson of Cairo and Roger Earl Brinson of Cairo; grandchildren, Alex Brinson, Natasha Huerter, Crystal Elaine Lamb, Ashley Johnson, Megan Lamb, James Brinson, Charles Brinson, Jessica Warren, Tiffany Johnson, Jaymi Lee Mead, Danny Brinson, Brittany Brinson, Amanda McCarty, and Christina Johnston; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Frankie Jean Cochran, and son, Charles Daniel Brinson.
