Lawrence “Larry” Phillips, 83, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lawrence Phillips was born March 1, 1939, in Newton, GA, the son of Grady & Lizzie Pearl Musgrove Phillips. He was a graduate of Jakin High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and the United States Army. Larry retired from the United States Postal Service and was Baptist by faith.
Larry moved to Jonesboro some twenty years ago after serving at several duty stations. He never met a stranger anywhere…on the mail route, at the grocery store, at a duty station thousands of miles away from his beloved Southwest Georgia…anywhere. His sense of humor often made awkward moments the turning point in the conversation especially if you were new to the game. Larry enjoyed hunting and rarely missed an opportunity to roll a strike at the bowling alley.
Survivors include his sister, Rebecca Chason of Climax, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jane Rentz and Nora Beth Hansberger.
