Lois Winifred Lawhorn Rowan

October 25, 1953 – February 1, 2023

Lois Winifred Lawhorn Rowan, age 69, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Valdosta, Georgia. Services for Lois will be held in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bainbridge, Georgia, 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 4. Pastor Christy Bandy will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Lois was born October 25, 1953, to Joel Andrew Jackson Lawhorn and Lillian Veronica Blute Lawhorn, in Canton, Massachusetts. Her parents have preceded her in death. Lois and her family moved and she graduated from Cairo High School class of 1971 in Cairo, Georgia. Lois was a witty, outgoing person. She lived her life with vigor and determination. Lois enjoyed antiquing and loved elephants. She collected anything with elephants painted on or about elephants. She worked with the Decatur County Board of Elections for many years. Lois’s very heartbeat was her family. She dearly loved each and every one of them. The favorite of all was her granddaughter. Being “Nana” was her favorite job of all. Lois Rowan will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.

Lois Rowan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Heather Nicole and Chris Godwin of Adel, Georgia; granddaughter, Natalie Godwin of Adel; brother, Warren Lawhorn of Attapulgus, Georgia; nephews, Bubba Lawhorn and Craig Lawhorn of New Jersey; niece, Kellianne Lawhorn of Calhoun, Georgia, and special friends, Denise, Donna, Wayne, and Sondra. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter A. Lawhorn, and sister Bertha (Betty) A. Lund.
