Charles David Gardner

November 25, 1950 – February 2, 2023

Charles David Gardner, 72, of Brinson, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Colquitt City Cemetery with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Carl “Pud” Ingram, Travis Blevins, Jackie Grubbs, Todd Powell, Todd Hornsby, Russell Pope, Pete Maine, and Tommy Dollar will serve as active pallbearers.

Charles David Gardner was born November 25, 1950, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of William “Sam” & Pauline McDowell Gardner. He attended Bainbridge High School and married Kathy Kirksey in 1971. Charles served as a maintenance supervisor for Decatur Gin & Dollar Farm Products. He attended First Church of the Nazarene.

True to his upbringing, priorities for Charles were family and work. He had a strong work ethic and provided a functioning role model for younger generations entering the workforce. He instilled in his sons the importance of family as the foundation and working hard as the means to an end. Charles relaxed a little when he was in his deer stand or casting a line at his favorite fishing spot.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kathy Kirksey Gardner; his children Chris Gardner of Bainbridge and Kameron Gardner of Albany; his grandchildren, Kailee, Brad, Kreed, and Paizlyn; his great-grandchild, Chain; his siblings, Georgia Hunt (Henry), Carolyn Conard (Bobby), Joyce Kolbuss (Jerry), Patricia Elsberry (Ken), Allen Gardner (Wilda), Sammy Gardner (Cathy), Steve Gardner (Debbie), and Burl Gardner; his sister-in-law, Dale Lambert; a special niece & caretaker, Julie Hornsby; and a host of extended family. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Herbert McGinnis.
